Registration is open for the
13th Critical Care and Perioperative Medicine Conference

The East Midlands Critical Care and Perioperative Medicine Hybrid Conference returns to Nottingham on 8–9 October 2026, bringing together healthcare professionals for two days of expert insight, practical clinical updates and open discussion.

Now in its 13th year, the conference will take place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Nottingham, with delegates able to attend either in person or online. The hybrid format makes the programme accessible wherever you are, while a choice of Standard and Premium tickets provides additional flexibility around busy rotas, on-calls and annual leave.

An expert-led, wide-ranging programme

This year’s programme explores some of the most important and evolving issues across critical care, anaesthesia and perioperative medicine.

Sessions across the two days will include:

  • What’s new in prehabilitation

  • Preventing functional decline in older adults around major surgery

  • High-risk airway clinics and tracheal extubation

  • Myths in anaesthesia and intensive care medicine

  • Immunoglobulin use in critical care

  • Supporting clinicians through training, workplace pressures and burnout

  • Practical lessons from recent research and clinical guidance

  • Patient safety, maternity care and regional pathways

Professor Mervyn Singer will deliver the keynote lecture, exploring sepsis in 2026 and beyond, including the progress made, the challenges that remain and the opportunities ahead.

Day two will also feature a dedicated mini-symposium examining the Townsend Case from legal, ethical and pragmatic perspectives, followed by a discussion open to both in-person and online delegates.

More than a series of lectures

The conference is designed to create opportunities for discussion, connection and shared learning alongside the formal programme.

In-person delegates will receive breakfast, lunch and refreshments, complimentary parking and access to networking opportunities with fellow delegates, speakers and sponsors. Drinks and canapés will also follow the close of day one.

Online delegates can watch the conference live through the bespoke event app, participate in sessions and connect electronically with the wider conference community.

All tickets include CPD credits and access to recordings for a limited period, while Premium All Access tickets provide extended access to recordings, talk summaries and conference takeaways until the end of April 2027.

Accessible professional development

As a not-for-profit organisation, Midlands Medical Conferences is committed to keeping high-quality professional development accessible and affordable.

Reduced online fees are available for doctors working in eligible low-income and lower-middle-income countries. Group discounts are also available for organisations booking five or more delegates, with invoice and purchase order options for NHS trusts, universities and international employers.

Whether you join us in Nottingham or participate online, the conference offers two valuable days of learning, discussion and connection with colleagues working across critical care and perioperative medicine.

“The quality and variety of the sessions were excellent, with a great balance of practical clinical updates, emerging research and honest discussion. I left with ideas I could take back into practice, as well as a renewed sense of connection with colleagues across critical care and perioperative medicine.”
